• Tutor, Blacksburg Refugee Partnership                                                                            Jan 2018 - May 2019

A strong desire to help students in need lead me to take up tutoring ​a high school student learn basic English reading and writing skills. It was challenging to teach a high school kid who never had a formal education in any language, but it was a fulfilling experience to see the student improve over time.

• Peer Mentor, Virginia Tech Early Engineering Mentoring (VTEEM)                                 Jun - Dec 2018, 2019 

Graduate school can be daunting for some and having someone experienced to help you navigate through in the initial months is important. I am a peer mentor for 4 graduate students in their first semester in graduate school. Talking to them about my experiences, things I learned during my time in graduate school, and helping them with their specific problems helps them to have a smooth start to graduate school.

• Academic Coach, Student Transition Engineering Program (STEP)                                 Jun - Aug 2017, 2018 

Helped the STEP students to manage, feel comfortable and enjoy the transition from high school to college. I helped them with time management techniques, strategies to succeed academically and lead to an overall development in college.

• Fellow, Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action and Research Youth Fellowship (PUKAR)  May 2007- May 2008

Worked on a project to understand value system in youth through Bollywood movies. Also, organized event for slum kids to generate awareness on different topics.​
